Clean-up in aisle 3...

Disaasembly so far showed the front forks needed a total rebuild as did the swingarm bushings. The original wiring harness was chafed in places and the original insulation was brittle. All rubber bushings for the oil tank and battery tray and side cover were also dry and brittle. The igniton switch key was mising and someone had soldered the connections at the switch leading me to believe that there had been 'issues' with the switch in the past.
Below is my initial parts order...

Meanwhile all painted parts have been stripped and/or prepped for paint.

Dents in the rear fender (Stainless Steel) were pounded out. a few small tears will need to be welded and the filed down.

The primary cover's cracks were welded from both the inside and out. Careful filing and polishing should hide most of the damage behind the now straightened footpeg.

Meanwhile the engine needs to be taken to Montreal to let Chris at Moto-Montreal strip it and assess what it will need to make it a reliable and worry free drivetrain.

Preliminary thoughts on this include:

Rocker box shaft O rings

Rocker Box - ensure oil passages clear

Head - New valves, guides, springs

Head - ensure exhaust spigots are solid

Cylinder - Punch to .020'' over and supply new pistons and rings

Bottom end - Bearings, sludge trap, oil pump, all oil seals

Gearbox - all springs

Before the engine left for Montreal, I removed the all the aluminium engine covers (Primary, Timing and Gearbox) and gave them a quick cleanup by wet sanding from 220 to 800 grit and then buffing with a medium compound.
